Overview
The Cart Path Only Rules feature allows golf course administrators to adjust which holes are active and will observe the Cart Path Only geofence alerts and warnings in the cart screen facing the golfer.
By default, Cart Path Only geofences are not active all the time. Marking a hole as “Active” is a temporary condition. The non-permanent holes have a single-day expiration and will automatically expire at midnight on the date they were established.
Cart Path Only geofences are created by the ReachGolfers Customer Success Team only, they are designed to keep golfers on the cart path area (+/- a small buffer zone) during the play of a hole. For adjustments to any Cart Path Only geofences, please contact your ReachGolfers customer success representative.
What the Golfer Experiences
A golfer will experience notifications and alerts about a Cart Path Only hole.
Badge Notification – The notification is in the form of a Red Color badge that reads “Cart Path Only”. The badge appears prominently on the Yardage Information Box for the duration of time they are playing that hole.
Alarm Notification – If, throughout a Cart Path Only hole a golfer drives their cart off of the cart path more than a couple yards, the screen will display a prominent alert message stating:
“This hole is restricted to cart paths only today, please safely return to the cart path.”
The written notification is accompanied by a repeating alarm sound alert played at high-volume on the device. Both the alert message, and the sound notification will display until the cart exits the geofenced area and returns to the cart path.

Cart Path Only – Settings
Holes – each hole on your golf course may be geofenced for Cart Path Only. In some cases a hole may be listed multiple times, this is typically because the cart path bi-sects the fairway area, thus splitting the hole into potentially 2 or more geofence zones.
Active – by default, the Cart Path Only rule is deactivated on most holes (unless they are marked as “permanent”). When in the deactivated state, the geofence exists, but is ignored by the cart screen app while playing that hole in a round. When marked in the active state, the geofence is observed and alerts and notifies golfers about the current rule. Non-permanent active holes will revert to deactivated state at midnight on the day they were set to active.
Permanent – while the default setting for Cart Path Only geofences is to be deactivated, some holes, once turned ON, can be set to permanently Cart Path Only. This is usually reserved for Par 3 holes, but any hole may be set as “Permanent”. When a hole is set to permanent, the geofence does not automatically return to deactivated state at the end of the current day.
Observe VIP – VIP Mode carts suppress geofence alerts and notifications. To make VIP Mode carts observe this functionality in Cart Path Only geofences, check the “Observe VIP” option.
If there is more than one golf course at your club you will need to select the proper course before making edits to the rule settings.

Set a Single Hole as Active
Setting a hole as Active. for Cart Path Only enables the geofence to alert and notfy the golfer about the current rule in two ways, via a badge on the yardage inforamtion box, and when the cart exits the path a notification is shown and an audible alarm is played repeatedly until the cart returns to the path, exiting the geofenced area.
On the Cart Path Only page, to set a single hole active, find the row(s) for that hole (there may be multiple rows if cart paths bisect a fairway) and toggle the Active switch to the ON position.
This setting will revert to OFF at midnight on the day it was set.
Set ALL Holes to Active
On the Cart Path Only page, find the “Active” Toggle Switch in the header row of the “Active” column. Toggle that switch to the ON position, a currently inactive rows will switch to active.
This setting will revert to OFF at midnight on the day it was set.
Set a Hole as “Permanent” Active
Permanent Cart Path Only is generally reserved for par 3 holes, however you may make any hole as “permanent”.
Step 1 – Set the hole status to “Active” (ON).
Step 2 – Check the “Is Permanent” checkbox to “ON”
The Cart Path Only rule will now remain “ON” for that hole indefinitely until the “Is Permanent” checkbox is checked OFF – and – the “Active” toggle is set to OFF.
Set a Hole to “Observe VIP”
If you prefer to allow VIP carts to still travel off the cart paths on an active Cart Path Only hole, you may choose to set the “Observe VIP” setting to YES.
Step 1 – Activate the hole by toggling the Active switch to the ON position
Step 2 – Check the “Observe VIP” checkbox
This will allow VIP carts to travel into Cart Path Only geofenced zones with no alerts or alarms.
